A Tardy Salute to the heroes of the Vietnam War
One of the greatest shames of post-World War II America was the treatment of our veterans who served in Vietnam. For the vast majority, these young men were answering the call to duty, serving their country with incredible courage and skill. I am attempting to join the many who now seek to get them the honor and recognition they deserve, however late. Join me on the Substack channel called A Tardy Salute:

It Was My Turn: One of Vietnam's Most Decorated Pilots and America's Secret War
Many are finally learning about the "secret war" in Vietnam. The so-called "Studies and Observation Group" was a clandestine operation where Green Berets with indigenous teammates would go "across the fence" into the denied territory of Laos, Cambodia, and North Vietnam. Former team leaders John Plaster, John Stryker Meyer, and others have written about these amazing soldiers, awarded more Medals of Honor than any other unit in American history. This book tells the story of one Cobra helicopter pilot who was awarded an unprecedented seven Distinguished Flying Crosses in his one year tour supporting the SOG teams into Laos and Cambodia. A "Pink Panther" from the 361st Aerial Weapons Company, Terry Crump, Panther 38, like his fellow pilots, braved intense enemy fire nearly every day, saving the lives of many of the Special Forces who depended on them. Foreword by renowned SOG leader John Plaster. Paperback and e-Book Audio Book |

Activists have played a powerful and in many ways positive role in our nation and communities. But, not always. Too often good people trying to do good things are stymied by activists who may have a political, ideological, religious or financial agenda. And too often, "true believer" activists follow the advice of their sage, Saul Alinsky, who believed the end justified the means. "Fake news" has become a common term to describe the frequent examples of false claims and "facts" through traditional and social media.
This book follows on the work of Now Is Too Late in describing how a marriage of convenience between "white hat" activists, investigative and regular journalists, "white knight" politicians and enterprising attorneys combine to create an almost irresistible force. Can it be resisted? Can truth prevail. Only by pursuing a white hat strategy, this book suggests. Gray hats need not apply. |
Shortly after the author began work on the first edition, 9/11 happened. It changed our world and brought many for the first time into the realization that we indeed lived in a global village of instant news. Updated in 2006, in the early days of social media, blogs and the like, the book advises organizations and individuals who face the risk of destructive crises that responding without preparation is a recipe for disaster. It provide cogent advice based on years of working with some of the largest global corporations and government agencies.
While much as changed since the last version, recent examples of major crises involving large organizations and small demonstrate that the primary lessons have yet to be learned. Most Americans and a great many Europeans continue to live in a sort of cognitive dissonance as it comes to science and faith. They believe in God, a higher power, the after life, immaterialism or a spiritual reality despite some scientists loudly proclaiming that such beliefs contradict what we now know about the world.
But a deeper look into today's science reveals there is not only justifiable reasons for the intuition and insight of most, but that science itself leads to conclusions that the adamant physicalists are conveniently ignoring. While examining a wide range of science topics, this effort at thinking through the issues culminates in a conclusion that what is now known provides more than sufficient room not just for a Creator, but One who answers prayer. Between randomness, uncertainties, entanglement and chaos theory, a path is laid out for the providential hand of God to act without resorting to any violation of physical laws.
